Four Considerations When Choosing a Cat Tree

Among cat toys, the cat tree stands out as a larger, more prominent option and has gained immense popularity over the years. It satisfies cats' natural climbing instincts while also preventing them from causing chaos at home by climbing around. Therefore, a cat tree is an essential addition. Below, we'll explore several key considerations when choosing a cat tree.

1. The material of the cat tree. The materials of the uprights and platforms of the cat tree directly determine its lifespan and stability. Solid wood is the best, followed by plywood, and then particleboard. However, solid wood is tall and generally costs over a thousand yuan; plywood is currently the mainstream option, offering better stability and a lower price than solid wood, typically ranging from 100 to 1,000 yuan depending on the number of layers; particleboard should be avoided as it is prone to breakage and has strong odors that cats dislike. The plush covering should be soft and static-free; the rope is primarily made of sisal or white brown rope, with a faint grassy scent. Apart from these, there should be no other odors, as cats have highly sensitive noses and will not appreciate overly strong smells.

2. The structure must be stable. The overall framework of the climbing rack should maintain a lighter upper section and a heavier lower section. First, the climbing rack must be at least 1 meter tall; otherwise, it loses its purpose. Second, many people prefer to choose tall and narrow climbing racks when purchasing, believing this maximizes space utilization. However, the higher the climbing rack, the more chassis accessories are required. Therefore, when selecting a climbing rack, it is essential to opt for one with a reasonable design and a sturdy appearance.

3. Consider the cat's habits to determine the placement of the cat tree. Based on the cat's usual activities at home, first select the general location for the cat tree. Then, take into account space utilization, ensure a stable structure, and decide the final placement. Should it be placed in a corner, against a wall, or secured by a pillar fixed to the ceiling? Once these factors are clarified, choose different cat trees accordingly.

4. In households with multiple cats, it's important to pay attention to the number of resting spaces. The climbing tree should have an equal or greater number of resting spots.
